Breakers Battle Buckfield on the Road

By Breakers Media Team · October 1, 2026

Pine Tree Academy girls’ varsity soccer fell to Buckfield 6-0 on the road on Thursday, October 1. Playing without two of their starters, PTA fought hard and kept it close for much of the game against one of the stronger teams in the Class.

Senior goalkeeper Daphne Poirier turned away numerous bids by Buckfield in both halves, keeping PTA in the match until late in the game, when the Breakers’ stamina wore down. After a 3-0 score at halftime, with much of the action in the PTA half, the Breakers displayed a stronger offensive performance in the second half, with senior midfielder Chantal Mbonimpa missing on two golden opportunities. Senior defender Maddie Jones added another bid, but the Buckfield goaltender was equal to the task.

In the end, Buckfield pulled away, adding three late goals and sending the Breakers home unable to find the back of the net. It was a valiant effort, however, and reason for optimism for the rest of the season and when they return to full strength.
