Breakers Find Positives in Road Match at Rangeley
By Breakers Media Team · October 6, 2026
The Pine Tree Academy girls varsity soccer team made the long trip to Rangeley on Tuesday afternoon, falling 5–0 to Rangeley Lakes Regional School in a match that included several encouraging stretches for the Breakers despite the final score.
Pine Tree Academy generated 11 shots and spent approximately half of the match possessing the ball in the attacking half. The Breakers showed good passing, crossing, and combination play while creating opportunities throughout the game.
Lisette Hakizimana, Chantal Mbonimpa, Alana Cardoza, and Maddie Jones were among the Breakers generating shots and offensive opportunities as PTA continued working to develop its attack.
Jones highlighted the team's strong offensive possession along with the passing and crossing that helped create those opportunities. Pine Tree Academy's defensive line also became involved going forward, communicating well and regularly pushing higher up the field to provide additional support to the attack.
Jenny provided quality minutes for the Breakers while taking on a new position, adding another positive takeaway from the afternoon.
At the other end of the field, Rangeley generated 17 shots. Goalkeeper Daphne Poirier recorded 12 saves, accounting with the Lakers' five goals for all 17 of Rangeley's recorded attempts.
Although the final score did not go Pine Tree Academy's way, the Breakers continued to compete and came away encouraged by several aspects of their performance.
The scoreboard did not fully reflect the quality of some of PTA's stretches of play. The Breakers generated 11 shots of their own, spent significant portions of the match possessing the ball in the attacking half, and continued showing progress through their passing, crossing, combination play, and ability to involve the defense in the attack.
