Breakers Remain Unbeaten with 6–2 Road Victory Over Seacoast

By Breakers Media Team · October 7, 2026

Despite a slow start, the Pine Tree Academy middle school soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to open the season, beating Seacoast 6-2 on the road on Wednesday, October 7. Eighth-grader Sam Cornish had another hat trick, seventh-grader Nora Lounder added two goals, and seventh-grader Kaleb Garcia had a goal of his own. The Breakers are now 6-0 on the season.

Seacoast gave Pine Tree a lot to think about in the early stages of the game, with the Breakers unable to find the back of the net for the first ten minutes as the Seacoast goalie turned away a number of strong bids. Cornish had an initial goal called off after he headed a beautiful corner kick from eighth-grader Asher Garcia. A few minutes later, Cornish used his foot this time, plucking another corner kick from Garcia out of the air, but the goalie was equal to the task.

Pine Tree finally broke through a few minutes later, however, with Cornish netting the game’s first goal after dribbling through the defense and knocking it home with his left foot. He had another goal a short time later, before Lounder started her goal-scoring campaign on a pass from eighth-grader, Thatcher Trubey. Kaleb Garcia then added his goal, making it 4-0 at halftime. Seventh-grader Granten Verrill made a number of big saves in the first half to preserve his shutout through the first frame.

When the second half started, Verrill found himself playing forward, with sixth-grader Clever Mugiraneza taking up Verrill’s goalkeeping duties. Mugiraneza made a number of big saves, while Cornish and Lounder added two more goals. Seacoast finally broke through in the second half, scoring two late-game goals—but they ran out of gas and weren’t able to make a full comeback, with the Breakers slamming the door and preserving their 6-2 victory.
