Boys: Undefeated Breakers Looking to Protect the Top Spot
It's been a remarkable season for Pine Tree Academy's boys varsity soccer team. The Breakers enter today's matchup undefeated at 10–0, sitting atop the MPA South 8-Person Heal Point standings. PTA also recently achieved a historic milestone, climbing to No. 5 statewide across all classifications in the October 16 MaxPreps rankings — an extraordinary accomplishment for a school with just 48 high school students. But the season isn't finished. Valley arrives ranked No. 5 in the South with a 5–4–4 record, making today's contest another meaningful test for the Breakers. A victory would preserve PTA's perfect record and strengthen its position heading into the postseason. With Greenville coming to Freeport tomorrow, the Breakers have an opportunity to finish the regular season with tremendous momentum. The goal is clear: protect home field, keep the unbeaten streak alive, and prepare for a championship run.
Girls: Every Heal Point Matters
For the Pine Tree Academy girls, today's matchup carries important postseason implications of its own. The Breakers currently sit No. 13 in the South 8-Person standings, while Valley occupies the No. 12 position. With the teams separated by just one place, today's head-to-head matchup offers PTA an opportunity to improve its position in the final Heal Point rankings. The girls have shown resilience throughout the season, battling through close contests and continuing to develop as a team. A strong performance against Valley would provide a boost heading into tomorrow's regular-season finale against Greenville. With tournament positioning at stake, every possession, every defensive stop, and every scoring opportunity matters.
Two Games. One Home Field. Plenty on the Line.
The regular season concludes tomorrow, October 20, with another home doubleheader against Greenville. For the boys, the focus is protecting an undefeated season and their place at the top of the standings. For the girls, it's an opportunity to finish strong and make a final push in the postseason race. The Breakers need their home crowd behind them.
