Chantal Mbonimpa Reaches 1,000 Career Points at the Civic Center

AUGUSTA, Maine — Junior Chantal Mbonimpa reached 1,000 career points for Pine Tree Academy, a milestone that arrived on the Augusta Civic Center floor in the Class S South quarterfinals.

Mbonimpa scored 19 points as the No. 6 Breakers pushed No. 3 Vinalhaven to the final minutes, pulling within two points with 1:44 remaining before falling 43-37.

Pine Tree Academy finished the season 8-11. For a junior in Maine's smallest classification, 1,000 points is a marker of consistency across three winters — and Mbonimpa has another season ahead in a Breakers uniform.
