Perfect 10-0: Middle School Breakers Complete Championship Season

By Breakers Media Team · October 31, 2026

A perfect season needed two very different finishes. Pine Tree Academy’s middle school Breakers survived a tense semifinal at home, then delivered a commanding championship performance to close an undefeated 10–0 campaign with the program’s seventh Maine Christian School Sports League title — and its first since 2022.

On October 28 at Pine Tree Academy, Windham Christian Academy pushed the Breakers into a 4–3 thriller. Sam Cornish scored a hat trick, including the equalizer after Pine Tree fell behind 3–2. With about six minutes remaining, Cornish found Nora Lounder, whose late winner sent the Breakers to the final. Read the original semifinal report for the full comeback.

Protecting that lead took a team effort. Defenders Maia Domingos, Campbell Trubey and Clever Mugiraneza limited Windham’s late chances, while goalkeeper Granten Verrill turned away the attempts that reached him. Their work made Lounder’s goal stand up and secured Pine Tree’s place in the championship game the following afternoon.

On October 29 at Edward Little High School in Auburn, Calvary Chapel scored in the opening two minutes. Cornish quickly equalized, and the Breakers took control with the passing and teamwork that had carried them through the season. Cornish finished with five goals and Championship Game MVP honors; Asher Garcia and Thatcher Trubey scored two apiece in the 9–2 victory. The original championship report recounts the title-winning performance.

The final whistle confirmed both the championship and a perfect 10–0 record. From the semifinal’s late pressure to the final’s early setback, the Breakers found different ways to respond — ending their season with the school’s seventh MCSSL middle school soccer crown and first since 2022.

The recognition extended beyond the team trophy. Nora Lounder received the championship game’s best teammate award, Winslow Brace was named best midfielder, and Cornish and Asher Garcia earned season All-Star honors. Together, those awards capped a championship run built on timely goals, determined defending and contributions across the team.
