No. 1 Breakers Begin Playoff Run at Home Tuesday Against Rangeley
By Breakers Media Team · October 24, 2026
FREEPORT, Maine — Pine Tree Academy begins its boys varsity soccer playoff run at home Tuesday, October 27, when the No. 1 Breakers face No. 8 Rangeley Lakes at 3 p.m. in the MPA eight-person South quarterfinals.
The Breakers enter the postseason after the program's first perfect regular season since 2011. PTA's season recap records a 12–0–0 finish, with a 6–0 victory over Greenville closing the regular-season schedule.
A Rematch with Rangeley
Pine Tree Academy won the teams' previous meeting 8–0 at Rangeley on October 6. Lucky Kabeya and Fitzroy Hakizimana scored twice apiece; Rhett Tyson, Collin Verrill, Santi Lopez and Rio Soram each added one. Six different scorers contributed to a balanced attack in the mercy-rule victory.

That regular-season result does not decide Tuesday's playoff matchup. The Breakers must produce another focused team performance to advance.
Postseason Perspective
Last fall, PTA reached the eight-person South regional final before Telstar won 1–0 in double overtime. The Breakers won this season's October 15 meeting with the Rebels 1–0, with Lucky Kabeya scoring the decisive goal. Those meetings provide postseason context, not a promise of a rematch or a tournament outcome.
The official MPA boys soccer bulletin schedules eight-person quarterfinals for Tuesday, October 27, semifinals for Friday, October 30, and the South boys regional final for Tuesday, November 3, at Gardiner High School. PTA's immediate focus remains Tuesday's first-round game against Rangeley.
